A Day Trip to Steamboat Springs

Steamboat Springs is about 35 minutes south of Brown Dog Cabin, close enough for an easy day trip and far enough that you’ll never hear it from the cabin.

The town is known for its hot springs, and both Strawberry Park Hot Springs and Old Town Hot Springs are worth a visit depending on what you’re after. Strawberry Park is more rustic and set in the trees outside town, while Old Town is closer to the center and easier for families.

If you’re there in winter, Steamboat Ski Resort is one of the better mountains in Colorado, known for its light, dry snow. In summer, the Yampa River Core Trail runs right through town and is an easy way to see the river on foot or by bike.

Steamboat also has a solid restaurant scene for a town its size, along with local shops that keep more of a Western feel than some of the more built-up resort towns elsewhere in Colorado. A morning at the cabin and an afternoon in Steamboat is an easy way to break up a longer stay.

Leave the noise behind. The cabin is waiting — and so is the mountain air.
